Drag racing is a type of motor racing in which automobiles or motorcycles compete, usually two at a time, to be first to cross a set finish line. The race follows a short, straight course from a standing start over a measured distance, most commonly , with a shorter, distance becoming increasingly popular, as it has become the standard for Top Fuel dragsters and Funny Cars, where some major bracket races and other sanctioning bodies have adopted it as the standard.

  • Curve showing [[induced drag]], [[parasitic drag]] and total drag as a function of airspeed.
  • The same aircraft, without power. The tangent defines the minimum glide angle, for maximum range. The peak of the curve indicates the minimum sink rate, for maximum endurance (time in the air).
  • Coefficients of lift and drag against angle of attack.
  • ''P''R}} curve for the light aircraft with the drag curve above and weighing 2000 kg, with a wing area of 15 m² and a propeller efficiency of 0.8.
  • Polar curve for a glider, showing glide angle for the best glide speed (best L/D). It is the flattest possible glide angle through calm air, which will maximize the distance flown. This airspeed (vertical line) corresponds to the tangent point of a line starting from the origin of the graph. A glider flying faster or slower than this airspeed will cover less distance before landing.<ref name=faa/><ref name=bw/>
  • Polar curve for a glider, showing glide angle for minimum sink rate. The origin of the graph is where the airspeed axis crosses the sink rate axis at zero airspeed and zero sink rate. The horizontal line is [[tangent]] to the top of the polar curve. That tangent point indicates the minimum sink airspeed (vertical line). The sink rate increases to the left or right of this point, corresponding to a lower or higher airspeed. This minimum sink airspeed has the lowest possible rate of sink, and allows the longest possible glide time before landing.<ref name=bw/><ref name=faa/>
RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN DRAG ON AN AIRCRAFT AND OTHER VARIABLES

The drag curve or drag polar is the relationship between the drag on an aircraft and other variables, such as lift, the coefficient of lift, angle-of-attack or speed. It may be described by an equation or displayed as a graph (sometimes called a "polar plot").

Solar sails (also known as light sails and photon sails) are a method of spacecraft propulsion using radiation pressure exerted by sunlight on large mirrors. A number of spaceflight missions to test solar propulsion and navigation have been proposed since the 1980s.

Electric solar wind sail; E-sail; Electric Sail; Esail; Electric sails; Electric Sails
An electric sail (also known as an electric solar wind sail or an E-sail) is a proposed form of spacecraft propulsion using the dynamic pressure of the solar wind as a source of thrust. It creates a "virtual" sail by using small wires to form an electric field that deflects solar wind protons and extracts their momentum.

Drag Queen Story Hour (DQSH), Drag Queen Storytime, and Drag Story Time are children's events first started in 2015 by author and activist Michelle Tea in San Francisco with the goals to "inspire a love of reading, while teaching deeper lessons on diversity, self-love and an appreciation of others. The events, usually geared for children aged 3–11, are hosted by drag queens who read children’s books, and engage in other learning activities in public libraries.

ANATOMICAL FEATURE IN SOME TETRAPODS
Spine sail; Neural sail
A neural spine sail is a large, flattish protrusion from the back of an animal formed of a sequence of extended vertebral spinous processes and associated tissues. Such structures are comparatively rare in modern animals, but have been identified in many extinct species of amphibians and amniotes.

Quinag

Quinag (Scottish Gaelic: A’ Chuineag) is an 808 m high mountain range in Sutherland in the Scottish Highlands, with an undulating series of peaks along its Y-shaped crest. The name Quinag is an anglicisation of the Gaelic name Cuinneag, a milk pail, reflecting its distinctive shape.

Geologically, Quinag is made of Torridonian sandstone, resting on a substrate of Lewisian gneiss. The highest peaks are capped by a thin skin of Cambrian quartzites with the gentle eastern slope of Spidean Coinich being a dip slope formed along the quartzite beds. The massif is an excellent place to appreciate the relationship between these three major rock units of the NW Highland.
